Standard Text

What's covered?

How to write a standard paragraph once and then use it in many topics using iFrames.

Please do note the problems that can arise if your output is webhelp that will be read in different browsers.

A regular feature request for RoboHelp is the ability to insert standard paragraphs throughout the help. For example:

Click OK to save the details.

OR

Click Cancel to exit without saving.

If that could be created once and inserted in appropriate topics, it would ensure consistent wording and little effort if you decide a change is required, for example formatting the OK and Cancel words as bold.

Recently Dan Deming posted a reply and pointed to an iFrames tutorial. I explored that and it does indeed open up some possibilities. Alas the method is not without some issues but they may not be important to you so I will leave it for you to decide.

Additional Information

After creating all this I began to have a nagging feeling that it might be covered on Rick Stone's RoboWizard site and, of course, it is. However I decided to publish after reference to Rick as I had covered a bit more about some of the downsides while Rick had also included another means of achieving the objective.
