Road Map: Standard Cost Rollup

Use the Standard Cost Rollup (MCR) program to update the standard cost of items and update the general ledger if you have inventory interfaced to the GL. See Background and Overview: Interfacing Inventory to GL for more information.

Before you run this program each time

You should run these programs:

  • (Optional) Inventory Cost Variance Report (IVR) to print a report that calculates the variance between standard and actual cost, which you can use to determine whether you need to run the Standard Cost Rollup (MCR) program.

Before you run this program the first time

You should run these programs:

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Inventory Control Options) to set these options: Allow stocking of phantoms?, Inventory interfaced to GL? Include floor stock in cost rollup?, Copy new costs to other branches in MCR?, and Copy MCR costs in detail or summary.

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (GL Journal Options) to set these options for updating the general ledger: Print journal after register?, Print from GJ?, Post in D=Detail or S=Summary, Post from R=Register or J=Journal, and Erase posting files after posting?

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Enterprise Options) to select a date display format for your enterprise, Branch Maintenance (TBM) to select a date display format for your branch, or User Maintenance (UIM) to select a date display format for an individual user.

  • User Maintenance (UIM) to give each user who will run this program permission to update general ledger; select Allow final reg upd?

  • GL Account Maintenance (GMM) to set up GL organization codes and GL accounts.

  • Posting Criteria Maintenance (XPC) to set default and specific GL organization codes and GL accounts for automatic posting to the general ledger. You set them up for these postings: FLOORSTOCK, INVENTORY, and INVTY ADJ.

  • Batch Number Setup (XBC) to set up a batch numbering scheme for automatic assignment of batch numbers, and set the Allow manual assignment? option.

  • Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set up items for your enterprise.

  • Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to set up items for your branch.

  • Item Cost Maintenance (ICM) to enter item costs.

  • Branch Maintenance (TBM) to set up branches.

  • Output Device Maintenance (XDM) to set up the output devices that you plan to use.

  • Date-Output Device Maintenance (ZE) to select your default output device and set whether you can override that device.

After you run this program

You will most likely run these programs:

  • Cost-Rollup Inquiry (MCRQ) to display cost rollup history for an item.

  • Data Dictionary Inquiry (DFQ) to display variable data for the CRUWORK Material Cost Roll Up Work File.

  • Single-Level Accumulated Cost Inquiry (MAI) to display material, labor, overhead, and outside service costs for a parent item and the components on the first level of its bill of material.

  • Multi-Level Cost Report (MIC) to print a cost report for parent items and for components on all levels of the bill of material below the parent item.
