Background: Multi-Level Cost Report

Use the Multi-Level Cost Report (MIC) program to print a report that shows the material, labor, overhead, and outside service costs of the components of a parent item. See Road Map for work flow.

Note
Costs on the report may differ from those displayed by Item Cost Maintenance (ICM) and Item Cost Inquiry (ICQ) programs if you have changed costs or bills of material since the last roll up by the Standard Cost Rollup (MCR) program.

The report prints in parent item number sequence. For each parent item number, components print in item number sequence. The report includes this information for each parent item:

  • Parent item number and description

  • Stocking unit of measure

  • Engineering Change Level

The report includes this information for each component:

  • Item number

  • Item description

  • Stocking unit of measure

  • Make/buy/kit flag

  • Level of the parent in relation to the component. For example, if a parent item is one level above the component in the bill of material, the program displays "1". If the parent is two levels above the component, the program display the level notation "2".

  • Required quantity to build one parent item: Quantity required

If you selected the Include scrap factor in cost calculation program option and entered a Scrap % for this component in the Bill of Material Maintenance (MPS) program: Quantity required + Scrap %

  • Replaced cost: * (asterisk) indicates that the component's standard material cost was replaced with the Base year, Loaded or User defined cost specified by the Replace incremental material cost with program option.

  • Extended material: Standard material cost (or Base year, Loaded or User defined if the Replace incremental material cost with program option was selected) x Quantity required

If you selected the Include scrap factor in cost calculation program option and entered a Scrap % for this component in the Bill of Material Maintenance (MPS) program: Standard material cost x (Quantity required + Scrap %)

  • Extended labor: Standard labor cost x Quantity required

  • Extended overhead: Standard overhead cost x Quantity required

  • Extended service: Standard outside service cost x Quantity required

  • Total component cost: Extended material + Extended labor + Extended overhead + Extended service

  • Quantity per assembly

  • Total component costs: Total extended material + Extended labor + Extended overhead + Extended outside service

  • Incremental cost of parent: Incremental material + Incremental labor + Incremental overhead + Incremental outside service

  • Total costs:Total component cost + Incremental cost of parent

The following fields are included only when the report is output to a file:

  • Last cost

  • Average cost

  • Last PO qty

  • Lead time for the item based on its make/buy/kit flag

  • Country of origin

  • The dates the parent and component items were first added to inventory
