Substitute Components

Click Substitute to display the list of items allowed to be substituted for this component.

The program displays these header fields:

Field Name	Displays
Original item	The number of the component you selected to replace
Seq	The sequence number of this component on the manufacturing order
Quantity	The quantity of the original component required for this manufacturing order

The program displays these fields for items you can substitute:

Field Name	Displays
Substitute component	The item number of an allowed substitute
Seq	A sequence number assigned to this item by the Bill of Material Maintenance (MPS) program I0:Prefix indicates this substitute was set up with the Item Substitute Maintenance (ISM) program
Pref	Y: Preferred substitute N: Allowed, but not preferred
Description	The item description
UOM/original	The unit of measure conversion for this substitute to the original component

Select a substitute component and click Select.

Enter the number of the item you want as a substitute or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the item from a list.

This field displays only if you selected A for the Substitutions allowed on mfg orders? option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Manufacturing Options) for your manufacturing branch.

The substitute item cannot be a configured product, prompt, pseudo, phantom, family, or by-product item. The item you want to substitute also cannot be a configured product, prompt, pseudo, phantom, family, or by-product item.

The program prompts Do you want to substitute [replacement item number] for [quantity] of the original item [original item number]?

Click Yes to substitute, click No to select another substitute, or click Cancel to end this action.
