Road Map: Forecast Calculation

Use the Forecast Calculation (MFC) program to calculate forecast demand for all items. This program should be run at regular intervals for reliable results. See Background for more information.

Before you run this program each time

You should run these programs:

  • Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to set up inventory items for your branch and enter a forecast quantity in the New forecast field.

Before you run this program the first time

You should run these programs:

  • Output Device Maintenance (XDM) to set up the output devices that you plan to use.

  • Date-Output Device Maintenance (ZE) to select your default output device and set whether you can override that device.

  • Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set up inventory items for your enterprise.

After you run this program

You will most likely run these programs:

  • (Optional) Forecast Update Selection (MFM) to set the Update in MFU? field in the Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) program.

  • Forecast Update (MFU) to update item forecasts based on the New forecast and Ext fcst by mo fields in the Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) program.

  • Forecast Maintenance (MSF) to fine-tune the forecast.

  • Forecast Performance Report (MFCS) to print a report that shows the difference between your forecast and actual sales and the percent of the forecast that was consumed.

  • Finished Goods Planning (MFP) program to calculate quantities of finished goods and configured products that you need to meet sales commitments and forecasts and to schedule their manufacture or purchase.
