Road Map: Finished Goods Planning
Use the Finished Goods Planning (MFP) program to calculate quantities of finished goods and configured products that you need to meet sales commitments and forecasts and schedule their manufacture or purchase. See Background for more information.
Before you run this program each time
You should run these programs:

Forecast Maintenance (MSF) to enter a new forecast period and change an existing forecast quantity.
AND/OR
Forecast Import (FORC) to import forecast data from an ASCII file and maintain imported data.
AND/OR
Forecast Detail Maintenance (MSFD) to enter or change a forecast for an item by branch, sales representative, or customer.
AND/OR
Forecast Calculation (MFC) program to calculate forecast demand for all items.
AND/OR
Forecast Update (MFU) to update item forecasts based on the New forecast and Ext fcst by mo fields in the Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) program.

Sales Order Maintenance (OE) to enter orders, and optionally obligate items and create shipments.
OR
Quote-to-Order Transfer (EPIB) to transfer:

Sales orders imported from ASCII files with Order Import (EPI).

Sales quotations entered with EDI/Sales Quote Maintenance (QOE).

Customer projects transferred with Project Maintenance (PSM).
-
Orders created with Repetitive Billing Report (RBIC).

Manufacturing Order Maintenance (MIM) to enter a manufacturing order and optionally obligate and pick components.
OR
Requisition Maintenance (IRM) to create a requisition and release a manufacturing order.
OR
Consolidate Manufacturing Requisitions (MOCR) to release multiple manufacturing requisitions to create a single manufacturing order.
OR
Planned Order Maintenance (MOP) to enter planned orders, and then Order Release Preparation (MPR) and Order Release Selection (MRR) to release the orders.
OR
Sales Order Maintenance (OE) to enter a sales order and generate a manufacturing order for:

A make-to-order item (the Item code field in the Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) program that matches the Immediate supply item code option in System Options Maintenance (XM) (Inventory Control Options))

A subassembly (the Item code field in the Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) program for the item and its components matches the Subassembly release type option in System Options Maintenance (XM) (Manufacturing Options)

A configured product that requires assembly
-
An item you make is not in inventory, the order entry operator clicks Manufacture in manual obligation mode, and the Disable mfg order firewall option in System Options Maintenance (XM) (Manufacturing Options) is selected

PO Maintenance (VOE) to enter a purchase order.
OR
Requisition Maintenance (IRM) program to enter and release a requisition.
OR
Order Release Selection (MRR) to release purchase requisitions that were created by the planning system.

Branch Transfer Maintenance (ITM) to enter a transfer.
Before you run this program the first time
You should run these programs:

System Options Maintenance (XM) (Manufacturing options) to set these options for your manufacturing branch: MIM consume planned orders?, Consume safety stock in current period?, MFP - move in message suppression, MFP - move out message suppression, MFP - # days order due for release, and MFP - display order release message?

System Options Maintenance (XM) (Enterprise Options) to select a date display format for your enterprise, Branch Maintenance (TBM) to select a date display format for your branch, or User Maintenance (UIM) to select a date display format for an individual user.

Shop Calendar Maintenance (XCM) to set the shop calendar that forms the time basis for all manufacturing order processing and master scheduling, but not for sales, shipping, purchasing, or receiving.

Branch Maintenance (TBM) to set up your manufacturing branch and specify its supply and demand groups.

Branch Groups Maintenance (TGM) to set up supply and demand groups for your manufacturing branch.

Buyer / Planner Codes Maintenance (TNM) to set up buyer / planner codes that you can select in a range.

Product Class Codes Maintenance (TPC) to set up product classes that you can select in a range.

Planning Period Codes Maintenance (MDM) to set up planning period codes.

Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set up finished goods items for your enterprise, setting Order code to 0 and Bypass code to 0 and entering the Item code field, if you want to use it as a selection option.

Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to set up items for your branch, select Auto planning or Excl from plan?, enter lead times, select a Planning period, enter a Max plan period, Scrap %, Safety stock, Lot size, Min order qty, and Spread forecast, and set Excl past due?

Accumulated Lead Time Calculation (MLT) calculate critical-path lead times for parent items.

Output Device Maintenance (XDM) to set up the output devices that you plan to use.

Date-Output Device Maintenance (ZE) to select your default output device and set whether you can override that device.
After you run this program
You will most likely run this program:

Planning Profile Maintenance (MPM) to enter a planned order, change the quantity ordered, move the due date, and break a planned order into multiple orders.

Planning Profile Inquiry (MRD) to display an item's demand and availability, peg demand and peg supply.

Order Release Preparation (MPR) and Order Release Selection (MRR) to release the orders.
OR
Planning Action Selection (MPC) program to move, cancel, or release planned orders.
