Partial Obligation and Split Lots
The Allow partial obligation option interacts with the Allow split lots? flag setting on the order line as follows:

If there is sufficient quantity to fill the line, it first tries to pick from a single lot (if the lot picking method is set to pick a full lot first) or fills from multiple lots. If there is insufficient quantity, nothing is obligated. |

If there is sufficient quantity in a single lot to fill the line, it is obligated. If not, and there is a lot with a smaller quantity, a partial obligation is done. Subsequent obligations to that order must be from that same lot. |

If there is sufficient quantity in multiple lots, they are used to fill the line. If the line cannot be filled by all lots, a partial obligation is done using up the lots that are available. |
