Warehouse Mapping Overview
A significant advantage to activating warehouse mapping for a branch is that it enables validation of inventory stocking locations. While the warehouse mapping feature enables you to further stratify inventory locations for reporting (such as counting equipment type required, location types, categories and physical zones), you only need to set up warehouses and bin locations to take advantage of the warehouse validation feature.
-
Use Warehouse Maintenance (TWT) to set up warehouses.
-
Use Warehouse Map Maintenance (TWMAP) program to enter valid bin locations for each warehouse. You need only enter the Location field.
-
Run Branch Maintenance (TBM) and select the Whse map active? option.
-
Run Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to specify each item's location. The Primary whse and Primary bin loc fields are validated; however, the fields can be left blank.
Use these programs to maintain optional warehouse mapping information:
-
Equipment Type Maintenance (TEQT)
-
Location Category Maintenance (TLCAT)
-
Location Type Maintenance (TLOCT)
-
Physical Zone Maintenance (TPZT)
After you set up more of more of the optional tables, use Warehouse Map Maintenance (TWMAP) to update warehouse locations with the additional detail.
The Warehouse Inquiry (WHQ) and Warehouse Listing (WHL) programs provide detail about the inventory stocked in warehouse locations.
