Background: Compliant Items by Manufacturer
Use the Compliant Items by Manufacturer (VGMI) program to enter, change and delete compliant manufacturer IDs for an item. See Road Map for work flow.
RoHS
The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) is often referred to as the lead-free directive, but it restricts the use of the following six substances:
Lead (Pb)
Mercury (Hg)
Cadmium (Cd)
Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+)
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE)
PBB and PBDE are flame retardants used in several plastics
Compliancy and Approval
The Compliant field indicates if the part is RoHS compliant. Approval fields indicate if the item is allowed to be purchased. Items can be approved even though they are not RoHS compliant, as might be the case for old electronic components.
