Link targets

How many times have you been frustrated by having to go to Project Manager and drilling down to find the target of a link in the topic you are working on?

No more. Just press CTRL + Click to open the target of a hyperlink in the Design Editor.

In RoboHelp 11 can we please have that also synchronise with the topic in Project Manager?

Clear Formatting and Reset Style

The Format menu now has Clear Formatting option that removes any inline styling and any CSS styling.

Some of the Style and Formatting groups, such as Tables, have a Reset Style option that removes any inline styling and any CSS styling.

Maybe you are wondering why there are two functions that at first glance appear to do the same thing. There is good reason. Let's take two scenarios to illustrate the difference.

Scenario 1

In my topic I apply some inline styling to one paragraph and a class to another.

This is some sample text. This is some sample text. This is some sample text. I have made the font colour of previous sentence red.

Below is the same content after I selected it and applied Clear Formatting.

Scenario 2

Let’s say I insert a table based on one defined in the CSS. In the cells I add a Character style to some content and then apply a different colour to that inline. I also nest a table with that table. Next I add a multi-level list and again apply some inline styling to that. Finally I define an inline override to one of the table borders.

  • If I select the main table and go Reset Style, what happens is that just that table will be reset. The content within it including the nested table will not be reset. The option is only available in some of the style groups.
  • If I select the main table and go to Clear Formatting, then everything selected will reset.

It's very much a case of horses for courses. It depends on what you want reset.
