Background: Control Number Inquiry

Use the Controlled Number Inquiry (SNQ) program to display basic information and inventory-related transaction activity for an item's control number. See Road Map for work flow.

Control Number Activity

This program can be used as a starting point for reviewing the activity of a control number. You can enter a control number or select one from a list. The program then displays the control number's basic information and all of the inventory-related transactions. For example, serialized items are commonly manufactured, therefore, the program displays the associated manufacturing order number and where the item was received. Typically, the next transaction you would see is the sales order that shipped the item to the customer. Each time the item is added to, or removed from inventory, the control number logs the activity. From any activity, you can view the originating document.

Service Agreements

From control number activity, you can view item's warranty expiration date and if the customer has purchased an extended service contract. You change the warranty expiration date, provided the entry does not exceed the maximum warranty expiration date.

Return Material Authorization (RMA)

From this program, you can initiate a Return Material Authorization. Click the RMA button to authorize the immediate replacement of an item or have the item returned to your facility, inspected and repaired, and then shipped back to the customer. All shipment details are recorded and displayed when you return to the program. For each transaction, you can display its associated detail, such as a repair manufacturing order to determine which parts were replaced.

Use the Return Material Authorization (RMA) program to create an RMA for a configured product.
