Date Shortcuts
For date fields, you can select a date on the calendar, enter a date, or enter a date shortcut.
For effective, start, or begin dates, you may leave the date field blank to use the earliest date: 01/01/1900. For expiration and ending dates, leave the date field blank to use the program default: 12/31/9999.
Select a Date on the Calendar
To select a date on the calendar, click the arrow to the right of the field. The calendar highlights the date entered in the field. If the field is blank, the calendar highlights your system date. Press Enter to select the highlighted date or click another date on the calendar. The calendar disappears and the date displays in the field.
Enter a Date
To enter the date, you can enter the full date, using the date display format selected for your enterprise in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Enterprise Options), for your branch set up in the Branch Maintenance (TBM) program, or for you in the User Maintenance (UIM) program. If the display format uses slashes as separators, you can enter a hyphen and vice versa.
If you enter the month and day portion of the date, the system displays the current year. If the month and day you enter has already passed, the system displays the next year. You must enter two digits for both month and day. For example, if the date is July 7, you must enter 07/07 or 07-07.
Enter a Date Shortcut
The advantage of date shortcuts is that the program replaces the shortcut with the appropriate current date. For example, if you enter T for today for a report selection option, the program always uses today's date. Likewise, if you enter EOM or EOP for reports that you run at the end of the month or period, you will not have change the date for selection or program options each time you run the report.
