Road Map: Configured Product Maintenance

Use the Configured Product Maintenance (MBM) program to enter, change, and copy a bill of material for a configured product or enter a family for forecasting. See Background for more information.

You should run these programs in this sequence: None required

Before you run this program the first time

You should run these programs:

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Manufacturing Options) to select the Component reference user label option for the enterprise and the Backflush components by operation seq?, Allow changes of previous CP selections?, and Backflush comps not attached to oper? options for your manufacturing branch.

  • Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set up parent and component items for the enterprise. For family forecasting, set Bypass code to 4.

  • Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to set up parent and component items for your branch.

  • Work Center Maintenance (WCM) to set up work centers.

  • (Optional) Standard Operations Maintenance (ROM) or Routing Maintenance (RTM) to set up standard routings.

  • Vendor Maintenance (VM) to set up vendors.

  • Unit of Measure Codes Maintenance (TUM) to set up unit of measure codes.

  • Labor Rate Codes Maintenance (TLR) to set up labor rate codes.

  • Department Codes Maintenance (TDP) to set up department codes.

  • Audit Trail Maintenance (XAT) to activate system logging of entries and changes.

  • Output Device Maintenance (XDM) to set up the output devices you plan to use.

  • Date-Output Device Maintenance (ZE) to select your default output device and set whether you can override that device.

After you run this program

You will most likely run:

  • Configured Product Inquiry (MBQ) program to display this bill of material.

  • Configured Product Listing (MBL) to print a component list for a bill of material for a configured product.

  • Configured Product Bill Where Used (MBW) to display an indented listing of the parentage of any component in a bill of material for a configured product.

  • Configured Product Mass Change/Delete (MBD) program to delete or replace a component in all configured product bills of material.

  • Configured Product Operations Listing (MBR) program to print a list of operations for the components of a bill of material for a configured product.

  • Audit Trails (ATR) to print an audit trail report.

Family

  • Forecast Maintenance (MSF) to enter the forecast quantity for the parent.

    Forecast Update (MFU) to update item forecasts based on the New forecast and Ext fcst by mo fields in the Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) program.

  • Finished Goods Planning (MFP) to calculate planned orders.

  • Planning Profile Maintenance (MPM) to view planned orders.
