Display a Single Level of a BOM

Use the Single Level BOM Inquiry (MPI) program to display a single level of a bill of material entered with the Bill of Material Maintenance (MPS) program. See Road Map for work flow.

  1. Enter data in these fields:

Enter the item number that you want to display or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the item from a list.

ECL

Required/Display only

If the Display current ECL? program option is selected, the current ECL is displayed and cannot be changed.

Enter the engineering change level for this parent item or leave blank.

If you leave blank, the program prompts Use the current ECL? Click Yes to use it or click No to enter a different ECL.

The name of the person who audited this BOM

The date when manufacturing approved this BOM

The percent of the component that you normally scrap during manufacturing

The bypass code for this component:

Ref cd

The reference code for this component, entered in the Bill of Material Maintenance (MPS) program

Op seq

The operation sequence number that identifies the order of operation in the manufacture of this component

M/B/K

M: Make the item

: Buy the item

: Sell a configured product as an unassembled set of components

LLC

The low-level code for this component

Effective

The effective date for this component in the displayed bill

Expiration

The expiration date for this component in the displayed bill

LT

The component's lead time:

If a make or kit item: Order prep LT + Mfg LT + Put-away LT
If a buy item: Order prep LT + Intransit LT + Put-away LT

Revised

The date on which the item's bill of material was last revised

Comp ref

The reference that your company uses for this component

  1. (Optional) Click Prog opts to review your options. To change them:

    1. Click the Runtime tab to set runtime options. See Set Options for Reports and Inquiries for more information.

    2. Click the Sort tab to set sort order.

    3. Click the Program tab to set this program specific option:

Select to omit a component that has an expiration date before today or leave blank to display all components regardless of their effective dates.

Display current ECL?

Select to default the display to the current ECL

  1. Click Save to save these options for future use.

  2. Click OK to apply these options or click Cancel to exit without applying them.

  1. (Optional) Select a component and click View subs. If one or more substitutes are set up for the item number, they are displayed. Click Exit to return to this program.

See Display Substitute Items for bill of material substitutions; see Item Substitution Inquiry there is an alternate inventory item that can be substituted for the component.

If the component has both inventory-level and bill of material-level substitutions, View subs enables you to see both.

Display substitute items for the selected component

Click View subs. See step 4.

Display a bill of material for this subassembly

Click Comp bill. Click OK to return to this display.

Display the cost record for this item

Click Item costs. See Display Item Costs. Click OK to return to this program.

Display notes for the parent item

Click Par notes. See Display Notes.

Display notes for the selected component

Click Comp notes. See Display Notes.

Display a different bill

Click OK. See step 1.

Exit to the menu

Click Exit.
