Obligate Components and Raw Material

Obligation assigns specific components and raw materials to a manufacturing order. When you click Sel, the program obligates all components required to make the quantity of the parent item ordered.

To partially obligate an order, click the manufacturing order and then Modify. Enter the number of component sets you want to obligate.

If the program displays the message Some components could not be obligated and no picking list will be created: Insufficient stock at this location, you may not have the quantity required in on-hand. Your selection for the Manage negative inventory option in System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Inventory Control Options) does not allow the program to obligate and pick these components. If you select Y for that option, the program processes the order, but on-hand inventory will be negative.

For controlled components this program does not allow you to select a specific serial or lot number or warehouse and bin location. The program selects components based on your selection for the Method for auto-obligation option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Inventory Control Options).

If you only want to obligate, and not create a shipment and confirm picking, click Sel to the left of the order or orders, click Exit, and then click No when the program prompts Process these orders?

Create Shipment and Pick Components

Manufacturing Order Picking Selection creates a shipment of components and raw material from inventory to the shop floor. At the same time the program confirms picking, which removes components from inventory.

If you want to partially pick, click the manufacturing order and then Modify. Enter the number of component sets you want to pick. Then click Process orders or click Exit and then click Yes when the program prompts Process these orders?

Print Shop Paper

Manufacturing Order Picking Selection prints shop paper if you selected:

  • S for Shop paper release time option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Manufacturing Options) for your manufacturing branch.

  • Y for the Print new orders immediately? field for shop paper in the Document Output Parameters Maintenance (TDOC) program.

If you select Q for the Print new orders immediately? field for shop paper in the Document Output Parameters Maintenance program, run the Shop Paper Print Queue Maintenance (MSPPM) program to process the queue.

You can run the Shop Paper Print (MSP) program at any time to print or reprint shop paper for a specific manufacturing order. You can also display an order in the Manufacturing Order Maintenance (MIM) program and click the Shop paper button.

Audit Trail

To activate an audit trail, select one of the files listed below in the Audit Trail Maintenance (XAT) program. The system records all transactions. You can then run the Audit Trails (ATR) program and select that file to print a report of these transactions.

  • MP2: Mfg Order Master

  • MP9: Mfg Order Components

  • O1S: Shipment Header

  • O1SB: Shipment Addresses

  • O1SF: Shipment Freight Detail

  • O1SL: Shipment Lines
