Add Attributes to Tool Crib Items

Use the Tool Crib Maintenance (MTM) to add attributes to Order code 4 tool crib inventory items and associate a tool with a work center. See Overview: Tool Tracking and Road Map for more information.

  1. If you arrived here from another program skip to step 3.

  2. Enter the tool number or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the tool from a list. The tool's description and alternate description are displayed for information.

  1. Enter data in these fields:

Select the item's classification.

Use Tool Classification Maintenance (TICC) to set up classifications.

Manufacturer

Select the manufacturer ID and name.

Use Manufacturer ID Maintenance (VGM) to set up compliant manufacturer names and IDs.

Enter the tool's model number.

Interval type

Accept the O  Operation default selection or select T  Time.

Click Apply to allow entry in the Life expectancy or Number of actions field.

Enter the expected number of hours that this tool can be used for its assigned use.

This field is active if the field Interval type is set to T = Time.

Enter the expected number of times that this tool can perform its assigned use.

This field is active if the field Interval type is set to O = Operation.

Service period

Enter the number of days between services or calibration.

When a tool is received through a manufacturing or purchase order and the Service period is not zero, the last service date is set to today's date and the next service date is set to the last service date plus the service period (number of days).

Work center only?

Optional

Select if the tool will only be used in a work center or leave blank to allow optional usage.

  1. Choose the appropriate options when you click Exit:

Accept the data or update the program record

Click OK. The program prompts Tool number. Enter another name or leave blank to exit program.

Exit without adding tool attributes

Click Cancel.

Update changes

Click Apply.

Delete a saved record

Click Delete.

Go to a related program

Click Jump. See Jump.

Display control number detail

Click Detail. See Control Detail for Crib Tool Items.

Note

This button displays only for a serial/lot-controlled-item.

Associate this tool with a work center

Click Work Centers. See Associate a Tool with a Work Center.

Exit the program

Click Exit.
