Road Map: Cycle Count Preparation
Use the Cycle Count Preparation (HCP) program to select items for a physical inventory count by creating a random or non-random cycle, delete a cycle, and print an inventory book or set of tags. See Background for more information.

You should run these programs:
System Options Maintenance (XM) (Inventory Control Options) to select Allow stocking of phantoms? if you want to include them in physical inventory cycles.
System Options Maintenance (XM) (Enterprise Options) to select a date display format for your enterprise, Branch Maintenance (TBM) to select a date display format for your branch, or User Maintenance (UIM) to select a date display format for an individual user.
System Options Maintenance (XM) (Enterprise Options) to select a Barcode option.
Batch Number Setup (XBC) to set up cycle number assignment.
Branch Maintenance (TBM) to set up branches.
Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set up items in your enterprise.
Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to set up items in your branch, assign ABC class if you plan to use this as a criterion for selecting items to be counted, and optionally enter the Count freq field.
(Optional) ABC Class Update (HAA) to define the criteria for ABC classes, assign classes (A through J) to items based on these criteria, optionally update the cycle count frequency by ABC class.
Item Status Codes (TISM) to set up item status codes.
(Optional) Buyer / Planner Codes Maintenance (TNM) to set up planner codes.
Output Device Maintenance (XDM) to set up the output devices you plan to use.
Date-Output Device Maintenance (ZE) to select your default output device and set whether you can override that device.
After you run this program
You will most likely run these programs:
(Optional) Item Insertion (HCI) to add items to an active inventory cycle.
Physical Count Entry (HCE) to enter the quantity you counted of each item.
OR
Alternate Physical Count Entry (HAE) to enter counts from pre-printed physical inventory tags.
(Optional) Physical Inventory Line / Tag Listing (HIR) to print a range of items by line or tag number so that you can check their counts.
(Optional) Physical Inventory Missing Line / Tag Listing (HMR) to print a range of items by line or tag number so that you can check their counts.
OR
Missing Tag Report (HTQ) to print a report that shows tag numbers that have been entered in the Alternate Physical Count Entry (HAE) program and those that are missing.Physical Inventory Deviation Listing (HDL) to print the quantity on-hand, the quantity counted, the deviation, and cost variance for items with a deviation.
Physical Inventory Update (HCU) to update on-hand inventory balances based on deviations recorded in Inventory Deviation Listing (HDL) and update the general ledger if you have inventory interfaced to the GL.
