Road Map: Import Data from XML File

Use the Import Data from XML File (IMPORT) program to import data from an XML file into your database. See Overview for more information.

Before you run this program each time

You should run one of the the XML export programs, such as:

  • Customer File Export (CMXML) to export data from the Customer Master file (C1A) to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet where you can edit the data before importing it back into your database.

  • Enterprise Inventory File Export (IMXML) to export data from the Enterprise Inventory Master file (I1AE) to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet where you can edit the data before importing it back into your database.

  • Employee Master File Export (LSAZXML) to export data from the Employee Master File (LS1) to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet where you can edit the data before importing it back into your database

  • Vendor File Export (VMXML) to export data from the Vendor Maintenance file (V1) to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet where you can edit the data before importing it back into your database.

  • Export Warehouse Map File (WMAPXML) to export warehouse mapping data to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet where you can edit the data before importing it back into your database.

Before you run this program the first time

You should run these programs:

  • Output Device Maintenance (XDM) to set up the file output device that you plan to use.

  • Date-Output Device Maintenance (ZE) to select your default output device and set whether you can override that device.

After you run this program

You will most likely run these programs:

  • Customer Inquiry (CQ) to display edited records.

  • Customer Ship To Inquiry (CSQ) to display edited records.

  • Enterprise Item Inquiry (IQ) to display edited records.

  • Branch Item Inquiry (IMBQ) to display edited records.

  • Item Cost Inquiry (ICQ) to display edited records.

  • Item History Inquiry (IMHQ) to display edited records.

  • Employee Listing (LSL) to display edited records. 

  • Planned Manufacturing Order Listing (MOPL) to displayed edited records.

  • Price Inquiry (PCQ) to display edited records.

  • Vendor Inquiry (VQ) to display edited records.

  • Warehouse Inquiry (WHQ) to display edited records.

  • XML Processing Log (LOGXML) to display list previously executed imports.
