The Lockout Function

PowerShift enables a master user prevents other users -- including other master users -- from accessing the system. You can allow other users to access the system during a lockout by specifying a lockout override group. Lockouts are helpful during upgrades, system maintenance, or any time you need to restrict access to PowerShift.

To initiate a system lockout:

  1. Enter the word lockout at any PowerShift menu.

  2. If you are a master user, the system prompts Enable system lockout? Click Yes to proceed or click No to cancel the action.

  3. The system prompts Lockout override group. Select an override group or leave blank to apply the lockout to all PowerShift users (other than yourself). See Create a Lockout Override Group.

  4. At the What level do you want to restrict? prompt, choose one of the following options:

    • Click Branch to apply the lockout to your login branch only.

    • Click Enterprise to apply the lockout to your entire company.

    • Click Cancel to return to the menu without initiating a lockout.

  1. If you clicked Branch or Enterprise, the program displays that a lockout was initiated. When you click OK, workstations are sent a message informing of the lockout; the menu also displays that a lockout is in place.

  2. To remove the lockout (i.e., restore users' access), enter the word lockout at any PowerShift menu.

  3. The system prompts What level do you want to remove? Click Branch/Enterprise to remove the lockout click Cancel to return to the menu leaving the lockout in place. If you remove the lockout, the lockout message is cleared from workstation message lines and menus.
