Road Map: Rejected Material Disposition

Use the Rejected Material Disposition (MRB) program to disposition (e.g., return, rework, scrap) rejected goods that have been assigned an MRB tag. This program is available if you selected Material review board active? in System Options Maintenance - Purchasing Options. See Background for more information.

Before you run this program each time

You should run these programs in this sequence:

  1. Receiver Maintenance (IRC) to receive a purchase order, manufacturing order, transfer, and RMA.

  2. Receiving and Inspection (IRI) enter inspection results for items that require inspection.

Before you run this program the first time

You should run these programs:

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Purchasing Options) to set the Material review board active? option.

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Inventory Control Options) to set the Inventory interfaced to GL? and Rcv to same wh/bin as sending branch? options.

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Accounts Payable Options) to set the AP interfaced to purchasing? option.

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Control Numbers Option) to define the format of serial and lot control numbers by branch or for the enterprise or set the Block auto-assignment of control nos? option.

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Enterprise Options) to select a date display format for your enterprise, Branch Maintenance (TBM) to select a date display format for your branch, or User Maintenance (UIM) to select a date display format for an individual user.

  • Branch Maintenance (TBM) to set up branches.

  • Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set up items for your enterprise.

  • Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to set up items for your branch.

  • Audit Trail Maintenance (XAT) to activate system logging of entries and changes.

After you run this program

You will most likely run these programs:

  • Rejected Material Disposition Register (VBJ) to print a list of rejected and disposed materials and update the general ledger if you have inventory interfaced to the GL.

  • Rejected Material Inquiry (MRBQ) to display rejected material records by MRB tag number.

  • Rejected Item Inquiry (VBI) to display rejected material records by item number.

  • Rejected Material Listing (MRBL) to print a list of all items rejected with the Receiving and Inspection (IRI) program.

  • Audit Trails (ATR) to print an audit trail report.
