Background: Rejected Material Disposition Register

Use the Rejected Material Disposition Register (VBJ) program to print a list of rejected and disposed materials and update the general ledger if you have inventory interfaced to the GL. See Overview: Interfacing Inventory to GL and Road Map for more information.

The system updates costs when you select the disposition method. Therefore, you do not need to run this register after you select the disposition method. You may want to run the register at month end.

When you print the Rejected Material Disposition Register, these documents print in this order:

Preview register

Review to be sure that it is correct.

Preview journal

If these options are selected:

  • Print journal after register? option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (GL Journal Options)

  • Print GL jrnl in preview mode? run time option in this program

Final register

If this option is selected:

  • Allow final reg upd? for this user in the User Maintenance (UIM) program

Final journal

If these options are selected:

  • Allow final reg upd? for this user in the User Maintenance (UIM) program

  • Print journal after register? option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (GL Journal Options)

The register includes all material disposition transactions currently on file and includes this information:

  • Branch

  • Material Review Board tag number

  • Receiver number and line number

  • Receiver type: C: Component reject, P: Purchasing, M: Manufacturing, R: RMA, T: Transfer

  • Purchase order, manufacturing order, RMA, or transfer number

  • Order line number

  • Quantity received

  • Quantity inspected

  • Quantity rejected

  • Reason code for rejection

  • Item number

  • Item description

  • Disposition code

  • Disposition date

  • Quantity disposed

If the disposition code is 5, the register includes:

  • Sequence number

  • Component item number

  • Quantity salvaged

  • Extended cost of salvaged component

  • Total cost of components salvaged

If you selected the Print stocking detail? program option, the register includes this information:

  • Serial number or lot control number

  • Warehouse code

  • Bin location

  • Quantity disposed for each location

If the program displays the message No GL reg to print. Either this register has no GL impact because the posting equals zero or you did not select the Inventory interfaced to GL? option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Inventory Control Options).
