Darwin 2016 |
What's covered?
This page covers our second visit to Darwin. The first was at the end of our trip on The Ghan and the second was on our return from Kakadu.
8 October
After breakfast at Kakadu, we had an easy run back to Darwin and had lunch in the hotel as it was too hot to go out.
I phoned to confirm tomorrow's trip which was fortunate as they had us down at a third Doubletree in Darwin some way away.
We stayed around the hotel for the afternoon and then went for a Vietnamese meal before going to see Bridgit Jones Baby, the funniest film we had seen for years. By far the funniest in the series.
9 October
We were picked up on time for our trip to Litchfield National Park and first stop was the Banyan Tree Cafe for coffee.
We then went on to a viewpoint at Florence Falls. We were told we could not use the plunge pool as it was closed and that was the first we knew that we should have taken swimming things for the day. Then we went on to Tolmer Falls where Gill got too hot by walking to a viewpoint that was quite a climb back.
We then went on to lunch where we had a nice salad followed by a delicious mango cheesecake recommended by the driver.
After that we went on to Wangi Falls for about an hour and a half. It had quite a large pool and was clearly very popular with local people. In the absence of swimming gear we settle for sitting on a rock with our feet in the pool. That kept us surprisingly cool.
We had dinner at the Doubletree.
