Blue Mountains 2016

What's covered?

We didn't have time to get to the Blue Mountains on our previous visit so whilst it was really in the wrong direction for the next stop, with no plans to come back to this part of the world, this was our opportunity.

21 October

Avis Sydney agreed to match Hobart's deal and we were pleased to get another Mitsubishi Outlander. The drive out of Sydney was not the most pleasant because of heavy traffic, narrow lanes and poor surfaces, just like home really! The whole journey was through areas that were more populated than we expected, commuter territory.

We stopped at Glen Brook Village for coffee and after checking in to Lilianfels we visited Echo Point and the Waradah Aboriginal Centre.

We had dinner at Daveys Restaurant as this had been highly recommended by Debbie at Trailfinders and we were not disappointed.

22 October

We walked to Scenic World and started on the Scenic Skyway. We were the only two people on the skway so the girls running it slowed it down so that we had more time to enjoy the scenery. To the music of Indiana Jones we then took the Scenic Railway which was originally for miners and went steeply down to the old mining area. We then walked most of the Scenic Walkway which is in the Jamieson Valley. We returned to the Scenic World Centre on the Scenic Cableway. In all it took about two hours.

It was then a steep walk back to the hotel to get the car and go into Katoomba. Nothing special there so we returned to the hotel and booked to dine at Daveys again. We also made arrangements to see Bill and Amanda tomorrow.
