Multiple Workers for a Routing Sequence

Do you have manufacturing operations where multiple workers are associated with a single routing operation sequence?

Typically this is the case where you have a routing sequence where the crew size is greater than one and is associated with some type of production line.

Crew Lists

Use the Employee Maintenance (LSA) program to designate an employee as a crew leader.

A crew leader can maintain a crew member list for up to nine shifts. Crew leaders and members must be assigned to the same shift.

Production Reporting

Only the crew leader reports production. When the crew leader inputs the start of the operation, a list of the current crew members can be displayed and maintained. The crew leader may add crew members if:

  • the crew leader does not have an active job

  • the crew member is logged on, but not logged onto a job.

  • the crew member is not a member of another crew leader

Any crew members added at this time will be deleted when the crew leader logs off the operation.

A crew member cannot log off an operation until the crew leader has logged off. When a crew member logs off of an operation, they enter the quantities good and scrapped and the program updates the work order completion status and adds time records in labor history for each member of the crew.

Quantities are only associated with the crew leader. Since the routing operation has a composite labor cost, the program sums the labor rates for all of the crew members for comparison.

If a crew leader is absent, another employee can complete the same entry. The program prompts for the crew leader that they are replacing so they can access the same crew member list.

Audit Trail

To activate an audit trail, select one of the files listed below in the Audit Trail Maintenance (XAT) program. The system records all transactions. You can then run the Audit Trails (ATR) program and select that file to print a report of these transactions.

  • LS1CL: Crew Leader Table

  • LS7C: Labor Entry Crew List
