Display a BOM for a Configured Product

Use the Configured Product Inquiry (MBQ) program to display a bill of material for a configured product or family forecast bill of material. See Road Map for work flow.

Enter the number of parent item whose bill of material you want to display or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the item number from a list. The item's description, item type, and status are displayed. For family items, popularity total (sum of component popularities) also displays.

The program displays the list of components on the BOM and these fields:

Field Name	Displays
Seq	The sequence number that indicates the order in which components can be selected in the Sales Order Maintenance (OE), One-Step Invoice Entry (RE), and EDI/Sales Quote Maintenance (QOE) programs
Comp item no	The number of the component
Part des	The identifier your company uses to distinguish multiple occurrences of a component in the same bill of material
Description	The description of the component
UOM	The stocking unit of measure
Popularity	The frequency with which this component is ordered compared to alternative components on the bill of material
Qty per bill	The quantity of this component required to build one parent item
Type	Component type: Stnd: Standard (always included) Acc: Accessory (customer choice) Reqd: Required; the operator must select at least one alternative the prompt offers Opt: Optional; none of the alternatives is mandatory
Acc	For an accessory or prompt whose type is Acc, Reqd, or Opt, displays: One: Once, limiting the customer to order one Mult: Multiple times, allowing the customer to order more than one
Spec	For special comp? Yes: The order entry operator can select stocked or non-stocked items that are not components for this prompt No or blank: The operator is limited to the components associated with this prompt
OE pt	For order entry print? Yes: This component prints on the sales order No: It does not print
Link	For link control (where-for processing): F: Fill Buffer to save a component so that it can be linked with a component further on in the bill of material D: Dump buffer to link a saved component with a related component in the bill of material Blank: Bypass where-for processing
Qty?	For allow quantity maintenance? Yes: The operator can change the quantity ordered for this component No or blank: The operator cannot change the quantity ordered
M/B/K	The component's make/buy/kit flag: M: Make B: Buy K: Kit
LLC	The component's low level code
FS code	The component's floor stock code

Choose the appropriate options:

To	Do This
Display a component	Highlight the component you want to display and click Select or double click the line. See step 3.
Print the component listing	Click Print. See Print.
Specify a different parent item	Click OK.
Exit the program	Click Exit.

The program displays these fields:

Field Name	Displays
Parent item no	The parent item number, description, item type based on the order and bypass codes, and status
Comp item no	The component item number, description, item type based on the order and bypass codes, and status
Part designator	The identifier your company uses to distinguish multiple occurrences of a component in the same bill of material
Popularity	The frequency with which this component is ordered as compared to alternative components on this bill of material
Qty per bill	The quantity this component needed to build one parent item
Component type	S: Standard (always included) A: Accessory (customer choice) R: Required; the operator must select at least one alternative O: Optional; none of the alternatives is mandatory
Redisplay prompt?	If the Component type is an A, R, or O, displays an accessory or prompt: Selected: Multiple times, allowing the customer to order more than one Blank: Only once, limiting the customer to order one
Special comp?	Selected: The order entry operator can select stocked or non-stocked items that are not components for this prompt Blank: The operator is limited to the components associated with this prompt
Order entry print?	Selected: This component prints on the sales order Blank: It does not print on the order
Link control	F: Fill buffer to save a component so that it can be linked with a component further on in the bill of material D: Dump buffer to link a saved component with a related component in the bill of material Blank: Bypass where-for processing
Allow qty maint?	Selected: The operator can change the quantity ordered for this component Blank: The operator cannot change the quantity ordered
Sequence number	The order in which components will be selected in the Sales Order Maintenance (OE), One-Step Invoice Entry (RE), and EDI/Sales Quote Maintenance (QOE) programs unless the operator selects the item number order program option
Operation seq-no	If you backflush picking, the operation sequence at which the system picks this component. For example, if this component is not required until the third operation, enter that sequence number. If blank and you selected the Backflush comps not attached to oper? option for your manufacturing branch in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Manufacturing Options), the system picks this component when you enter pieces completed for the first operation
Comp reference	The reference your company uses Note This field may have a different label based on the Component reference user label option setting for your manufacturing branch in System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Manufacturing Options).
Flr stk cd	The component's floor stock code

Choose the appropriate options:

To	Do This
Display notes	Click Notes. See Display Notes.
Go to a related program	Click Jump. See Jump.
Display the operation sequences for this component	Click Operations. See Display an Operation for a Configured Product. Click OK to return to this program.
Display a bill of material for a subassembly	Click Comp bill. See Display a Single Level of a BOM. Click OK to return to this program. Note This button is active only if the component has a BOM.
Return to the component list	Click OK.
Exit the program	Click Exit.
