Road Map: Order Release Selection

Use the Order Release Selection (MRR) program to select planned orders and requisitions for release and change an order before releasing it. See Background for more information.

Before you run this program each time

You should run these programs in this sequence:

  1. Finished Goods Planning (MFP) to calculate quantities of finished goods and configured products that you need to meet sales commitments and forecasts and to schedule their manufacture or purchase.

  2. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to calculate time-phased requirements for raw material and components, plan the timely replenishment of inventory, and reschedule or cancel existing non-firm orders.

  3. Order Release Preparation (MPR) to mark planned orders and requisitions for release.

Before you run this program the first time

You should run these programs:

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Manufacturing Options) to set the Shop paper release time option.

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Purchasing Options) to set the Disable purchase order firewall? option for your manufacturing branch.

  • System Options Maintenance (XM) (Enterprise Options) to select a date display format for your enterprise, Branch Maintenance (TBM) to select a date display format for your branch, or User Maintenance (UIM) to select a date display format for an individual user.

  • Numbering System Setup (XOC) program to set up requisition and manufacturing order number assignments.

  • Buyer/Planner Codes Maintenance (TNM) to set up buyer and planner codes.

  • Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set the make, buy, or kit, M/B/K field.

  • Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to enter a current ECL and a preferred vendor for an item.

  • Output Device Maintenance (XDM) to set up the output devices that you plan to use.

  • Date-Output Device Maintenance (ZE) to select your default output device and set whether you can override that device.

  • Audit Trail Maintenance (XAT) to activate system logging of entries and changes.

After you run this program

You will most likely run these programs:

  • Component Shortage Report (MOSL) to print a report that shows manufacturing orders that were released with a component shortage or could not be released because of a shortage of components.

  • Audit Trails (ATR) to print an audit trail report.
