Background: Tool Activity Maintenance
Use the Tool Activity Maintenance (MTA) program to change a tool crib item's active setting and assign a serial number to an unassigned tool. See Overview: Tool Tracking and Road Map for work flow.
Program Validation
If a tool is currently active (Y) then changing it to inactive (N) requires no program validation. However, if a tool is currently inactive (N) and you attempt to change it to active (Y), the program checks that no other occurrences of that tool number within that work center and machine location is already active. If the tool is already active at a location, then the program prevents the change.
Unassigned Tool
You may use this program to assign a serial number to a previously created unassigned tool. The unassigned control number is created when work is completed with WIP Movement (WIPM) or Barcode Labor Entry (LRTE) before the tool was assigned to the work center.
The program only allows you to assign an in-stock serial number that is not assigned to another work center.
