Change a Tool's Active Setting

Use the Tool Activity Maintenance (MTA) program to change a tool crib item's active setting and assign an unassigned tool. See Overview: Tool Tracking and Background and Road Map for more information.

  1. Enter the work center number or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the work center from a list.

  2. Select the machine and tool number and click Select.

The program displays these fields:

The work center associated with this tool

Machine

The machine number at this work center associated with this tool

Tool number

Tool number associated with this work center and machine

Warehouse

The code of the warehouse where this item is stocked

Bin location

The primary bin location of this item

Control number

The control number of the crib tool item or UNASSIGNED.

If work has started using this tool with WIP Movement (WIPM) or Barcode Labor Entry (LRTE), but the tool was never assigned to the work center, UNASSIGNED displays. See step 3 to assign a control number.

Accumulated time

or

Accumulated action

The total number of hours that this tool has been used for its assigned use

or

The total number of times that this tool has performed its assigned use

Date time stamp

The date time of the last change to this tool's active setting

User

The user that last changed the tool's active setting

Active?

Selected: This tool is active
Un-selected
: This tool is not active

  1. Select or de-select the Active? field. See Background for more information.

  2. (Conditional) Click Reassign to assign a control number to the tool. See Assign a Control Number to an Unassigned Tool.

  1. Choose the appropriate options:

Accept the change

Click OK.

Exit without changing this tool

Click Cancel.

Update the record

Click Apply.

Assign a tool's serial number

Click Reassign. See Assign a Serial Number to an Unassigned Tool.

This button is only active if the work began with this tool before is was assigned to a work center.

  1. Choose the appropriate options when you click OK or Cancel:

Display the selected tool

Click Select.

Display tool listing from a specific tool record

Click Restart.

Display the previous set of records in the file

Click Page up.

Display the next set of records in the file

Click Page down.

Exit the work center

Click Exit.

  1. When you click Exit, enter another work center and machine or exit the program.
