Work center no
Machine number
Vendor number

Required

Enter a valid work center and machine number for this operation or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the work center and machine from a list.

The work center and machine number combination identifies a specific work location.

If this is a P Outside service operation:

  • Leave the work center blank; VENDOR displays when the operation is added.

  • In the Vendor number field, enter a valid vendor for this operation or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the vendor from a list. The vendor's name displays below the vendor number.

  • Oper desc 1 - 4 and Cost per piece are the only other fields that can be entered or changed for outside service operations.

Oper desc 1 - 4

Optional
20 alphanumeric per line

Enter up to four lines that describes the process performed in this operation to print on the shop paper.

Tool number

Optional
24 alphanumeric

Accept the displayed tool number or enter a different tool that this operation uses. This field is not used by the system, but you can use it in custom reports.

Note
If you are using operation tool tracking, you can leave this field blank and associate multiple tools with the operation sequence by selecting the Tools button.

Direct labor cd
Indirect labor cd

Optional

Accept the displayed code or select that different code that represents the hourly labor rate for this operation.

Work in process and labor reporting programs use this code to calculate labor costs.

This field can be entered/changed for Regular, Indirect, Batch, and Unattended operations.

Direct labor %

Optional

Enter the percentage of the run time an employee is involved. For example, if an employee is able to run two identical machines enter 50.00. This splits the employee cost to the two manufacturing orders being run at the same time.   This field can be entered/changed for Unattended operations.

Setup labor cd

Conditional
2 alphanumeric

Accept the displayed code or select another code that represents the hourly labor rate for setting up this operation.

Work in process and labor reporting programs use this code to calculate labor costs.

This field can be entered/changed for Regular, Batch, and Unattended operations.

Setup labor %

Conditional

Enter the percentage of the run time an employee is involved in the setup process. If the employee time is not to be included in the cost enter .00.   This field can be entered/changed for Unattended operations.

Multiple setups?

Optional

If you select the field for a regular operation, the system calculates the number of setups required for a manufacturing order: Quantity ordered / Pieces per batch (rounded up to the next integer).

If not selected, the system assumes one setup per order.

For batch operations, this field is selected and cannot be changed. The system calculates the number of setups required for a manufacturing order: Quantity ordered / Pieces per batch (rounded up to the next integer).

This field can be entered/changed for Regular operations.

Crew size

Optional
5 numeric in the format 999.99

Enter the number of workers required to perform this operation. This field is not used by the system, but you can use it in custom reports.

Setup time

Optional
7 numeric in the format 99999.99

Accept the number of hours it takes to set up this operation or enter a different number. The system calculates standard setup labor cost: Number of setups x Setup time x Setup labor rate

This field can be entered/changed for Regular, Batch, and Unattended operations.

Op pieces per hr

Optional
Required
12 numeric in the format 9999999.99999

Enter the number of output units processed in an hour or leave blank to have the system calculate this field based on the Hours per piece field.

This field can be entered/changed for Regular, Batch, and Unattended operations.

Cost per piece

Inactive

Enter the unit cost that this vendor charges to perform this operation.

This field is used only for purchased service operations.

Process UOM

This field is not used by the system, but you can use it in custom reports.

This field can be entered/changed for Regular, Batch, and Unattended operations.

UOM conversion

Required
9 numeric in the format 99999.9999

Accept 1.0000 or enter a different number of processing units per stocking unit.

This factor converts processing (input) units and hours to standard (output) units and hours. In the hole-punching operation example, if you punch only one hole at a time and there are 10 holes to punch, the conversion factor is 0.1; but if you punch all 10 pieces simultaneously, the conversion factor is 10.0.
