Road Map: Physical Count Entry

Use the Physical Count Entry (HCE) program to enter the quantity you counted of each item in the physical inventory cycle and change the existing count. See Background for more information.

Before you run this program each time

You should run these programs:

  • Cycle Count Preparation (HCP) to select items to be counted and print a full inventory book or set of inventory tags.

Before you run this program the first time

You should run these programs:

  • Branch Maintenance (TBM) to set up branches.

  • Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) to set up items.

  • Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) to set up items in your branch and optionally enter the Count freq field.

After you run this program

You will most likely run these programs:

  • (Optional) Item Insertion (HCI) to add items to an active inventory cycle.

  • (Optional) Physical Inventory Line / Tag Listing (HIR) to print a range of items by line or tag number so that you can check their counts.

  • (Optional) Physical Inventory Missing Line / Tag Listing (HMR) to print a listing of missing lines or tags for an inventory cycle.

  • Physical Inventory Deviation Listing (HDL) to print the quantity on-hand, the quantity counted, the deviation, and cost variance for items with a deviation.  

  • Physical Inventory Update (HCU) to update on-hand inventory balances based on deviations recorded in Inventory Deviation Listing (HDL) and update the general ledger if you have inventory interfaced to the GL.
