Enter or Change an Address

  1. Enter data in these fields when you create a new record or change the data in an existing record:

  • For a new record, this label is based on the Default label for state field option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Enterprise Options).

  • For an existing record, this label is based on the State label field in the Country Codes Maintenance (TCC) program. If the entered Country has a the State label field populated you must enter a state.

Zip/Postal code

Required

Enter the postal code and click the icon next to the field. The city and state fields are populated based on the code you enter.

Use the Postal Codes Maintenance (TZM) program to associate a postal code with a city, state, and country. When you enter the postal code, the program displays the City, State, and Country.

This field is labeled as follows:

  • For a new record, this label is based on the Default label for postal code field option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Enterprise Options).

  • For an existing record, this label is based on the Postal code label field in the Country Codes Maintenance (TCC) program.

Enter the name of the contact or department for this customer or vendor.

You can set up additional contact records with unique addresses and phone numbers in the Customer Contact Maintenance (CLM) program.

Country

Select the country code or leave blank and enter the postal code. When you press F10 or complete data entry, the program displays the country (also city and state) associated with that postal code.

Note
When a shipping branch's country is different from the ship-to country, the shipment is deemed to be an international shipment.  If the country code is blank it is assumed to be the same as the Enterprise country code (set in System Options Maintenance - Enterprise Options).

Phone

Enter the telephone number.

Fax

Enter another telephone number (for example, a cell phone number).

Enter the email address to use for this customer, vendor, employee, or branch.

Hint! You can hover over an in-focus email address and ctrl-click to launch your email application, opening an email to it

  1. (Optional) Click Validate to the validate the entered address (this button displays if a third-party interface for address validation has been activated).

    1. If a match is found, a message that the address has been validated is displayed.

    2. If the address does not match a valid address and the validation service cannot find a close enough match to return an address, a message indicating the error is displayed.

    3. If the address is not a match but there are only slight differences, both addresses are displayed.

      1. Click Accept to update the returned address to the PowerShift record.

      2. Change the address. You can split it into address lines one and two, or make spelling or other minor adjustments to spelling, etc. Click Accept to update the address as modified.

      3. Click Cancel to retain the current PowerShift address.

  2. Choose the appropriate options:

Click OK.

Exit without saving or changing this address

Click Cancel.

This button displays only if you can change the address.

Update the program record

Click Refresh.

Clear all fields from the displayed address

Click Clear.

Validate the address

Click Validate. See step 2.

The button displays if a third-party interface for address validation has been activated.
