Set Batch Number Formats

Use the Batch Number Setup (XBC) program to set up batch numbering formats for GL registers. See Background and Road Map for more information.

The program displays these fields:

A check mark indicates the number is displayed when it is assigned

Choose the appropriate options:

Select G Global to control assignment of this order number at the enterprise level or select L Local to control it at the branch level.

Select to allow users to enter a number or leave blank to prevent users from overriding the assigned number.

Accept the displayed number or enter the number of characters in the constant. Enter 0 if you do not want to use a constant.

See the Constant to insert field for standard constant codes.

If you enter 1, 2, or 3 for BRCH or INIT, the program uses the first 1, 2, or 3 characters of the branch or user's initials.

Number size

Enter the number of numeric characters for the non-constant portion of the batch number.

The number size be at least 6; the constant size plus the number size cannot exceed the maximum length for numbers, which is 12 for order numbers and 10 for account numbers.

Select the constant you want to use:

BRCH	Login branch for the user who enters the order
CCYY	Century and year (for example, 2109 for the 21st century and the year 2009)
CONS	User-defined constant If selected, also enter the text you want to use for the constant in the User defined const field.
DOY	Day of the year (for example 365 for the last day of the year)
INIT	User ID from the User Maintenance (UIM) program for the person who enters the order
MMM	Three-character abbreviation for current month (for example, DEC for December)
MMYY	Month and year (for example, 1209 for December 2009)
WW	Week number (for example 52 for the last week of the year)
YDOY	Year, day of year (for example 9365 for the last day of year in 2009)
YY	Current year (for example, 09 for 2009)
YYMM	Year and month (for example, 0912 for December 2009)
YYWW	Year and week number (for example 0952 for the last week of year in 2009)

Suffix or prefix

Select P Prefix to begin the order number with the constant or S Suffix to position the constant at the end of the order number.

Last order number

Enter the last number issued or a different number. The numeric part of the first system-assigned order number will start at one-plus the number you enter.

User defined const

If you selected CONS for the Code to insert field, enter the text you want to use the constant.

Important! It is strongly recommended that you not use special characters (e.g., ?, #, &, +, |, <, >, *, :, /, \, [, ]) in constants.

Display batch no

Optional

Select to display a popup with the number when it is assigned. Leave blank to skip the pop up display.

Choose the appropriate options:

Change a field	Move the cursor to the field and make changes. Click Apply to accept the changes or click Cancel to reject the changes.
Accept the data and return to list of order types	Click OK. See step 1.
Exit the program	Click Exit.
