Create a Table of Choices

When you click Table while displaying an alphanumeric field for which you selected the Table validation field, you can enter choices users can select from a drop-down list.

The program displays the file name, sequence number of the user field and previously defined values in the table:

  1. Choose the appropriate options:

Delete the selected code

Click Delete.

Copy the selected code

Click Copy. See Copy.

Display or change the code

Click Select or double-click the line. See step 2.

Print the list of codes

Click Print. See Print.

Return to the user field

Click OK. See Create User Fields.

Enter a choice to be displayed when the user field is maintained. Consider the order you want the choices listed in the drop-down. See Display Order.

You cannot change this field once a code is added.

Enter a description for the code. The description displays to the right of the field when an entry is selected.

Move the cursor to the field, make changes and click Apply to accept changes or click Cancel to reject changes.

Delete the selected code

Click Delete.

Copy the selected code

Click Copy. See Copy.

Display or change the code

Click Select or double-click the line. See step 2.

Accept the data and return to the list of codes

Click OK. See step 1.

If you are adding codes, the program for another code. Click OK again to return to the list of codes.

Display Order

Choices are displayed in alphanumeric sequence in a drop-down list when the user field is maintained. To make selecting choices most efficient, make sure the ones you expect to be selected most often are at the top of the list.
