Set Order Number Layout

Use the Numbering System Setup (XOC) program to set the layout for system assigned numbers for orders and other functions. See Background and Road Map for more information.

The program displays these fields:

If you enter 1, 2, or 3 for BRCH or INIT, the program uses the first 1, 2, or 3 characters of the branch or user's initials.

Enter the number of numeric characters for the non-constant portion of the order number.

The number size be at least 6; the constant size plus the number size cannot exceed the maximum length for numbers, which is 12 for order numbers and 10 for account numbers.

Week number (for example 52 for the last week of the year)

Year, day of year (for example 9365 for the last day of year in 2009)

Current year (for example, 09 for 2009)

Year and week number (for example 0952 for the last week of year in 2009)

Suffix or prefix

Select P Prefix to begin the order number with the constant or S Suffix to position the constant at the end of the order number.

Enter the last order number issued or a different number. The numeric part of the first system-assigned order number will start at one-plus the number you enter.

If you selected CONS for the Code to insert field, enter the text you want to use the constant. For example, you might use REC for receivers, REQ for requisitions, PO for purchase orders, etc.

Important! It is strongly recommended that you not use special characters (e.g., ?, #, &, +, |, <, >, *, :, /, \, [,  ]) in constants.

Display order no

Optional

Select to display a popup with the number when it is assigned. Leave blank to skip the pop up display.

Accept the data and return to list of order types

Click OK. See step 1.
