Add a Planning Period

Use the Planning Period Codes Maintenance (MDM) program to add, change, copy and delete codes that set the length of periods that planning programs use to display supply and demand. See Background and Road Map for more information.

The program lists previously-defined planning period codes:

  1. Choose the appropriate options:

Click Add.

Delete a planning period

Highlight the line and click Delete. See Delete.

Copy a planning period

Highlight the line and click Copy. See Copy.

Display a planning period

Highlight the line and click Select or double click the line.

Print the planning period code listing

Click Print. See Print.

Exit the program

Click Exit.

Enter a unique code to identify the planning period that you are adding.

This field cannot be changed after a planning period code is added.

Enter a description that for the planning period that you are adding.

This description displays to the right of the code when the user selects a code for the Planning period field in an item record in the Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) program. It also displays to the right of the code if you select one for the Select planning display period code program option in the Finished Goods Planning (MFP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) programs.

Enter the number of days in each period. The number can be the same for all periods (like DFAULT, which has 5 days per period) or periods can be a different number of days.

Planning programs observe the shop calendar. Therefore, if you enter 7 and weekend days are not on your shop calendar, the seven days will not be consecutive calendar days. If the first period date is Monday August 1, the second would be August 10.

If your shop calendar is not set up for 48 periods, the Planning Profile Inquiry (MRD) and Planning Profile Maintenance (MPM) programs will display the message Shop year [CCYY] missing. Use XCM to extend the calendar.

Change a field

Move the cursor to the field and make changes. Click Apply to accept the changes or click Cancel to reject them.

Delete the displayed planning period code

Click Delete. The program returns to the list of codes. See step 1.
