Background: Country Codes Maintenance

Use the Country Codes Maintenance (TCC) program to add or change, copy, and delete country codes that users can select when they enter an address for a branch, customer, vendor, or employee. See Road Map for work flow.

Note
A populated country codes file (#T3) is provided on PowerShift's Qantel-maintained files directory. It includes the ISO Alpha-2 as well as the newer ISO Alpha-3 code for more than 200 countries. To use it, copy #T3 to your data directory.

When you enter an address for a new customer, vendor, employee, or branch, you can select one of these codes for the Country field.

If you select a country code, the system changes the labels for the state and postal code fields to the labels associated with the country code. For example, suppose that you set up the country code CA for Canada with a State label of Prov for province and a Postal code label of P/C for postal code. The system displays these field labels for Canadian customers, vendors, employees, and branches.

When you enter a new customer, vendor, employee, or branch, the system displays your entries for the Default label for state field and Default label for postal code field options in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Enterprise Options) until you select a country.

Caution
When you delete a record, you remove it from the system. That record is no longer available. Be very careful when you delete country codes because the system does not verify whether the codes are used by branch, customer, vendor, or employee records.
