Change Item Control Settings

Use the Item Control Settings Maintenance (IFM) program to change the Serial/Lot control, Whse/Bin control? and/or Pre-assign control no fields set for an item in the Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) program.

You can change an item's control settings if:

Floor stock, obligated, consignment, or on order quantities are 0, on-hand quantity is not negative, or no manufacturing orders exist for the item.
There is no inventory cycle count in progress for this item.
The item is not awaiting disposition by the material review board.

Enter the item number or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select the item from a list. Item information is displayed:

The item number you entered or selected; its description displays below it. The item's current quantities are displayed for information.

The item type based on the order and bypass codes that you selected for the item in the Enterprise Item Maintenance (IM) program; see Item Types.

Wh/Bin control?

Select to control by warehouse and bin location or leave blank to not control by location.

Serial/Lot control

Select the control type:

N	Neither serial or lot number control
M	Lot number control
S	Serial number control

You cannot select lot or serial control if the item is on a bill of material as floor stock.

Pre-assign ctrl no

Conditional/Optional

Select how you want to assign control numbers:

Select	If you want
N or blank	Assign control numbers when you receive the finished goods into inventory.
Y	Assign control numbers when you release a manufacturing order. Select S or M for the Serial/Lot field.
P	Assign control numbers when you release a manufacturing order and process/print an item label for a completed serialized item with the Mfg Order Control Number Print Selection (WOCS) program. Select S for the Serial/Lot field.
R	Assign serial numbers after the manufacturing order is released, but before it is received. Contact Powershift support for processing instructions. Select S for the Serial/Lot field.

Choose the appropriate options:

To	Do This
Change a control setting	Move the cursor to the field and select the new value. Click OK to accept changes or click Cancel to reject changes
Display data in custom fields your company uses	Click User. This button displays only if you have set up user fields for this program in the User Fields Maintenance (XMO) program.
Display item control detail	Click Ctrl info. See Display Control Information. This button displays only if the item is lot or serial controlled and/or controlled by warehouse and bin.
Display change history for this item	Click Audit. See Display an Audit Trail. Note Audit trail logging must be activated.
Accept the data and specify a different item	Click OK.
Exit the program	Click Exit.

If you change an uncontrolled item to controlled, the program prompts you to enter control information if it has on-hand inventory.

(Conditional) Accept the displayed warehouse and bin location, which are from the Primary whse and Primary bin loc fields in the item's record in the Branch Item Maintenance (IMB) program, or enter a different warehouse and bin location. If the item is lot or serial number controlled, enter the numbers or leave blank to have the system assign them for you. See Enter Control Information.
