Create a Format Map for Manifest Import Files

Use Format Mapping Maintenance (XMAP) to specify the format of the manifest files provided by your carrier, mapping data elements to their counterparts in PowerShift files. Your PowerShift Support Representative can provide a sample format that you can adjust to work with the manifest files your carriers provide.

The program displays:

Description	The description of the format
Type	Mapping type: B: Banking C: Custom M: Manifest
Type	File type: O: Output (i.e., for export) I: Input (i.e., for import) D: Data import (CSV file)

Choose the appropriate options:

Add a format number	Click Add.
Delete the selected number	Click Delete. See Delete.
Copy the selected format	Click Copy. See Copy.
Display the selected format	Click Select or double click the line.
Print the format number listing	Click Print. See Print.
Exit the program	Click Exit.

Enter/review data in these fields:

Field Name	Type / Max Length	Action / Description
Description	Required 35 alphanumeric	Enter the description for the file.
Mapping type	Required 1 alpha	Select Manifest to map a file for importing for shipping data.
Type	Conditional 1 alpha	Select I for input mapping.
Output file name	Conditional 50 or 8 maximum alphanumeric	Enter O2M-I for manifest imports.
File type	Conditional 1 alpha	Select D for a sequential file.
Record length	Optional 999 numeric	Enter the maximum length of the record.
Key size	Optional 999 numeric	Enter zero.
Output directory	Optional 3 alphanumeric	Enter a directory for the output file.
File seq size	Conditional 9999999 numeric	Not used.
Delimiter	Optional 1 alphanumeric	Enter the field delimiter. The system does not validate the delimiter. Good delimiter choices are \| (pipe character) and ; (semicolon). You should not choose a character that is likely to appear in your data, such as these numeric symbols: [, (, ), -, %,], or these special characters: ), @, #.
Update program	Required	Enter MAPIT2.
Log report	Required	Enter ELMAN.

Choose the appropriate options:

Change a field	Move the cursor to the field and make changes. Click Apply to accept or click Cancel to abandon changes.
Delete a saved record	Click Delete. See Delete.
Enter file layout specification	Click Layout. See Enter Mapping File Layout.
Accept the data	Click OK. The program returns to the Format number field if this was a newly added format; it returns to the list of formats if you viewed or maintained an existing one.
