Background: Ship Via Codes Maintenance

Use the Ship Via Codes Maintenance (TSV) program to add, change, copy, and delete ship via codes. See Road Map for work flow.

Ship via codes define carriers that you use to ship to customers or receive from vendors.

SCAC Code and Tracking

Customers

If you select a code in the Ship via field in the customer's record in the Customer Maintenance (CM) or the Customer Ship-to Maintenance (CSM) program, this code is the default in order entry and shipment confirmation programs:

  • Sales Order Maintenance (OE)

  • EDI/Sales Quote Maintenance (QOE)

  • One-Step Invoice Entry (RE)

  • Sales Shipment Confirmation (OC)

  • Secured Confirmation (SOC)

However, the operator can override the default by selecting another code.

These sales and shipping programs print the ship via code on documents:

  • Acknowledgment Print Queue (OPSPM) and Acknowledgment Print (OPS)

  • Sales Order Print Queue (OPPM) and Sales Order Print (OP)

  • Picking List Print Queue (OPKPM) and Picking List Print (OPK)

  • Packing Slip Print Queue (OPAKPM) and Packing Slip Print (OPAK)

  • Packing List Print Queue (OPLPM) and Packing Listing Print (OPL)

  • Quote Acknowledgment Queue (QPSPM) and Quote Acknowledgment Print (QPS)

Vendors

If you select a code in the Ship via field in the Vendor Maintenance (VM) program, this code is the default in the PO Maintenance (VOE) program. However, the operator can select another code, if appropriate. The ship via code prints on the purchase order.

SCAC Code and Tracking

The URL that you entered in the SCAC Codes Maintenance (TSCAC) program is associated with the SCAC code you select for a shipper. You may set up ship via codes for different types of delivery (overnight, 2-day, ground, freight, and international), all of which use the same web site for tracking information.

Users will be able to click Track in these programs to link to the shipper's web site and display the current status of a shipment:

  • Shipment Line Inquiry (OSIQ)

  • Shipment by Order Inquiry (OSSQ)
