Add a Ship Via Code
Use the Ship Via Codes Maintenance (TSV) program to add or change, copy, and delete ship via codes. See Background and Road Map for more information.
The program displays existing ship via codes:

Click Add. The program prompts Code. Enter a unique identifier (3 alphanumeric characters maximum) for the ship via code you want to add. See step 2. |

Enter a description for the ship via code; for example, enter the name of the shipping company associated with the code. This description displays to the right of the code when a user selects a code in the customer, vendor, order processing, branch maintenance, and shipping programs. It displays in the Carrier field in the Bill of Lading Maintenance (BLM) program. |

If freight details are received from the carrier through the manifest interface for this ship via code, you can distinguish between freight and package delivery.

Select if a bill of lading is required or leave blank if it is not. If you select, you cannot confirm a shipment with Sales Shipment Confirmation (OC) or Secured Confirmation (SOC) unless you have created a bill of lading. However, you must confirm shipment for debit invoices you enter with the One-Step Invoice Entry (RE) program. |

Select this field if freight details are received from the carrier through the manifest interface for this ship via code. Shipments with ship via codes that have this field selected cannot be invoiced until they are updated via the interface. Once updated, the ship via code, FOB and freight code cannot be maintained. |

Select this field if freight details are received from the carrier via the manifest interface and you want to control when the information is updated to PowerShift by using the Order Freight Pickup program. You would select this field if manifest information received from the carrier can include shipments that do not get picked up as scheduled (e.g., because the truck is full). |
