Start Work and Enter Pieces

Use the Barcode Labor Entry (LRTE) program to start work and enter pieces. The system clock calculates time worked. See Background and Road Map for more information.

To Start Work

  1. Scan the barcode on your employee/machine ID badge or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select an ID from a list. Employee IDs are used to report regular operations and machine IDs are used to report unattended operations.

    Notes
    If you are a member of a crew, only your crew leader may log on to the operation.
    If you are a crew leader, the Crew List Maintenance (LTEC) program can be displayed for maintenance. See Add a Crew List.

  1. Scan the manufacturing order number from the shop paper or click the Lookup icon and use the standard lookup options to select a manufacturing order from a list.
    OR
    If you are reporting indirect time (e.g., meetings, cleanup, etc.), enter INDIRL followed by the labor code (set up in Indirect Labor Codes Maintenance) or scan the appropriate indirect labor barcode (printed by the $INDIRBC Report Generator specification) at the manufacturing order number prompt. Leave the operation code blank. You may be required to enter a setup employee number (see Barcode Labor Entry Options).

    (Conditional) If at least one routing operation has a tool association, but the tool was not assigned to the appropriate work center, the message Some work centers do not have tools assigned; continue?. Click Yes to continue or No to cancel entries. You may continue and later assign a serial number to the tool in the Tool Activity Maintenance (MTA) program, or click No and use the Work Center Maintenance (WCM) program to assign tools to work centers.

  2. Scan the operation sequence number from the shop paper or from the scan menu, or select the sequence number from the drop down list. Only active operations are listed; other operation sequences can be manually entered if required. If you entered the operation or selected it from the list, press Enter.

  3. Scan the labor code from the scan menu or select a code from the list.

Accept the default D for direct labor, select U for setup, I for indirect, or select R for rework.

If you have not clocked in the system prompts you to enter or accept a displayed clock-in date and time. After clocking in the system prompts Proceed with log in as shown?. Click Yes and enter your badge ID again. Skip to step 8.

  1. (Conditional) If the badge ID is a machine (Employee class X) and the labor code is U, scan or select the Employee reference from a list.

  2. Press Enter. The system prompts: Proceed with log in as shown?


    Click Yes to start work, or click No to cancel.

To Enter Pieces at Work Completion

  • Scan the ID used to start the operation. The operation that was started is displayed along with the start time. For unattended operations, the employee reference is displayed.

  • Enter the number of good pieces.

  • Enter the percentage complete (optional based on options selected in System Options Maintenance - Labor Options).

  • Enter the number of scrapped pieces.

  • Select a reference from the list maintained in Labor Reference Code Maintenance (TLBR). If the selected labor reference code indicates Supervisor override, a popup prompts for the supervisor's ID to be entered and allow the pieces per hour and bonus flag tp be maintained.

Scan an employee badge or exit the manufacturing order

Enter notes about this labor entry and exit the manufacturing order

The Notes button is not available for indirect labor.
