Enter Components

When you click Component in the Warranty Tracking Maintenance (WTM) program, these fields display for existing components:

The number of the parent item

The Engineering Change Level of the parent item

The component item number

The component's ECL when the warranty was created

Part des

The identifier your company uses to distinguish multiple occurrences of a component in the same bill of material

  1. Select the component you want to change, click Select, and click Modify.

OR

Click Add to add a new operation and accept the assigned sequence number.

Enter the identifier your company uses if this component is listed on this bill of material more than once. You may call this designator a balloon number, bubble number, file number, material tag, or reference number.

Accept the displayed quantity or enter a quantity of the component needed to build the quantity ordered.

Accept the displayed quantity of the component required to build one parent item or enter a quantity. For example, if the parent item is a table and the component is a table leg, the quantity per assay is 4.

Date revised

Accept the displayed date or select a date.

Accept the displayed component type or enter your user-defined code for this component type.

Replacement item?

Select if you replace this component under warranty or leave blank if you do not.

If you select, this item will be listed in the Sales Order Maintenance (OE) program when the operator clicks Warranty.

Select if this component is critical to the bill of material or leave blank if it is not.

Accept the displayed quantity of material that you typically lose during setup or enter a quantity.

For example, if the first two items produced after calibrating the machine do not meet quality standards, you would enter 2. This field is not included in the calculation of scrap, but you can use it in custom reports.

LT offset

Accept the displayed number of days after a manufacturing order is released that the component is required or enter a number.

For example, an offset of 0 means the component is required when the manufacturing order is released; an offset of 3 indicates that the component is not required until 3 work days after the manufacturing order has been released. The offset cannot be greater than the lead time of the parent. Planning uses the lead-time offset when calculating delivery or due dates.

Scrap %

Accept the displayed percent of the component that you normally scrap during manufacturing or enter a percent.

Effective date

Select the displayed date on which this component can be used for manufacturing orders, select a date, or enter a date shortcut.

Expiration date

Accept the displayed date through which the component can be use for manufacturing orders, select a date, or enter a date shortcut.

Note
You cannot delete a record until it has been saved; use Cancel.

Exit without entering or changing this component item

Click Cancel.

For an existing component, the program prompts Exit without updating? Click Yes to exit without updating the record or click No to retain the changes that you made.

For a new component, the program prompts Comp item no. Enter another component or leave blank to exit.

Enter notes for this component item

Click Notes. See Enter Notes.

Display control information for this component

Click Detail. See Enter Control Information for a Component.

This button displays only if you selected the Track component detail? option in the System Options Maintenance (XM) program (Warranty  Tracking Options).

Accept the data

Click OK.

For a new component, the program prompts Comp item no. Enter another component or leave blank to exit.

Exit and return to the menu

Click Quit.

Display the selected component item

Click Select.

Display component items from a specific item

Click Restart. The program prompts Comp seq no. Enter the first sequence you want to display or leave the field blank to begin with the first sequence in the file.

Print the component item listing

Click Print. See Print.

Display the previous set of records in the file

Click Page up.

Display the next set of records in the file

Click Page down.

Exit component items

Click Exit. See Change Items Covered.

Exit and return to the menu

Click Quit.
