Add a Web or Mobile Device User

Use the Web / Mobile User Maintenance (XUIM) program to add web or mobile device users, create sign-ons, and set up user profiles for web and mobile applications. See Background and Road Map for more information.

The program lists web and mobile users:

Displays

Client ID

A unique identifier associated with this customer, sales rep, vendor or mobile user

Client name

The name associated with the ID (e.g., the company name)

Type

C: Customer
S: Sales rep
V: Vendor
P: PowerShift user

Number

The customer, sales rep, or vendor number. The field is blank for PowerShift users.

  1. Choose the appropriate options:

Move the cursor to the line and click Delete. See Delete.

Copy a web/mobile user

Move the cursor to the line and click Copy. See Copy.

Review or change information about a web/mobile user

Move the cursor to the line and click Select or double-click the line. See step 4.

Print the list of web/mobile users

Click Print. See Print.

Exit the program

Click Exit.

  1. The program prompts Client ID.

  2. Enter a unique identifier (10 alphanumeric characters maximum) for this customer, sales rep, vendor or mobile user.

  3. Enter or change data in these fields:

Select an inventory group that this ID can view or leave blank to limit this ID to the inventory group associated with the default branch.

The branch you selected in the Default branch field must be in this inventory group.

Leave this field blank if this is a PowerShift mobile user; branch access is controlled by the PowerShift User ID.

Pricing customer

Required for Sales rep (S type) entries. Select the customer number to be used for pricing calculations.

Leave this field blank if this is a PowerShift mobile user.

Allow  bill-to ovrd?

Optional

Select to allow the user to override the bill-to customer address during web checkout.

Leave this field blank if this is a PowerShift mobile user.

User Sign Ons

Accessing the PowerShift database either via the web or a mobile device requires a user sign on. PowerShift mobile user IDs have a single sign on while customer, sales rep, and vendor e-business IDs can have multiple user sign ons with access to different functions. The properties and roles you associate with each sign on controls what information can be reviewed and whether or not it can be changed.

When you click User Sign on, existing sign ons are listed:

  1. Choose the appropriate options:

Add a sign on to the web/mobile ID

Click Add. Add is not available for a PowerShift mobile ID if a sign on record exists. Therefore, if you need to make changes, delete the sign on and then click Add. See step 7.

Delete a sign on

Move the cursor to the line and click Delete. See Delete.

Copy a sign on

Move the cursor to the line and click Copy. See Copy.

Review or change information about a sign on

Move the cursor to the line and click Select or double-click the line. See step 7.

Print the list sign ons

Click Print. See Print.

Return to the previous screen

Click OK. See step 4.

Enter the password this user will enter. The password must:

  • Have at least 6 characters.

  • Contain at least a capital letter, a number, or a character used for punctuation.

  • Not contain the same characters as the User sign on.

For mobile app users:
Enter the Password name specified in User Settings on the mobile device.

Enter specific data for the corresponding property. For example, if the property is timezone, you might enter MDT for mountain time.

Click Other info to specify additional Values.

For mobile app users:
Enter the default Mobile app menu (maintained in Mobile App Maintenance) you want displayed in one of the Value fields; select PS report menu as the corresponding Property.

Property 1 - 6

Accept or enter elements, which are variable names in the data set. Properties are case sensitive and must be entered exactly as defined. For example, if the property is skin.color, then skincolor, SkinColor, or color will not be recognized.

Click Other info to specify additional Properties.

Select PS report menu if the value entered above is a mobile app user's default menu.

Allow web update

Optional

Select if this user can maintain this property on the web or leave blank to prohibit changes.

For example, you may allow users to change properties that are personal settings, such a skin or skin.color.

This field is not applicable to mobile app users.

Delete a sign on

Move the cursor to the line and click Delete. See Delete.

Show changes made to web/mobile users

Click Audit. See Display an Audit Trail. Click OK to return to this program.

This button displays only if web/mobile user file audit trails are active.

Select functions this sign on can access Click Roles. Double click a line to select a role this sign on can access. To clear a selection, double click the line again.   This button does not display for mobile app users.
