Add an Output Device

Use the Output Device Maintenance (XDM) program to add or change, and delete devices that users can select to output documents, reports, and inquiries. See Background and Road Map for more information.

The program lists previously entered output devices with these fields:

Field Name	Displays
Device name	The device name
Device description	The description of the device
Device type	Device type
Actual dev	The actual device name in the QICWARE system configuration
Auto prop?	Selected: This device uses the lines per page, lines per inch, and characters per inch properties for the QANTEL Print Connector Blank: This device does not use the QANTEL Print Connector or uses different lines per page, lines per inch, and characters per inch than the QANTEL Print Connector
LPP	Lines per page
LPI	Lines per inch
CPI	Characters per inch
P/L	P Portrait L Landscape
Atch format	Applicable to email device types for which Send as email attachment? has been selected: 1 PDF attachment 2 CSV file attachment 3 Text file attachment 4 Text in body of email 5 HTML file attachment 6 HTML in body of email 8 Custom form Note 8 is also displayed when Custom form is selected for a printer and spooler device The field is blank or N for all other devices.

Choose the appropriate options:

To	Do This
Add a device.	Click Add. The program prompts: Device name. Enter a unique identifier (up to 8 alphanumeric characters) for this new device and press Enter. The program prompts: Device type. Select the type of device you are adding and click Other info. See step 2.
Delete a device.	Highlight the line and click Delete. See Delete.
Review or change a device	Highlight the line and click Select or double click the line. See step 2.
Print the list of devices	Click Print. See Print Displayed Data.
Exit the program	Click Exit.
